IVFDF is called IVFDF because the heart of the festival is encouraging students from different universities to meet, make new friends, and show off their favourite type of dancing.
As part of this, we have a Display Ceilidh on Saturday afternoon where all the universities can perform for each other. Displays can be whatever you fancy - they could be very precise and technical dances, they could be lively and energetic, they could be to traditional music or to something silly and unexpected - or they could be all of the above! We have had everything from Dr Who to the Sound of Music. You can see previous displays if you look on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=IVFDF+display
We will find at least one place for every university that wants to display at IVFDF. If you are not a university society, or if your university has more than one society who wish to display, get in touch and let us know - we'll do our best to work something out.
We expect everyone who wants to display at the display ceilidh to have a rehearsal on the Saturday morning. This is important, as it means that you will have practised in the space you will be dancing in, and we will have an opportunity to sound check. It can be very frustrating when the entire display ceilidh is waiting while someone can't get their music to work - so we recommend live musicians (they generally break down less!) but you can use recorded music if you are comfortable with the tech!
If you want to do a display at the IVFDF display ceilidh could you please fill in the form below.
You'll be able to sign up at the festival, but it will help us plan if you fill in the form.
